What auto-changeover buys you
An RV with twin cylinders and a plain regulator still goes cold at 2 a.m. when the open cylinder empties. A two-stage auto-changeover regulator ends that: both cylinders connect through the included 12-inch pigtails, the regulator draws from the service side, and when that cylinder runs down it switches to the reserve on its own - the furnace never notices. The indicator shows the swap happened, and the empty comes off for refilling without interrupting supply, which is the feature that matters in January.
Two-stage regulation also holds appliance pressure steady as cylinder pressure falls and temperature swings, which is what fridges and furnaces want. Fitting is within a competent owner's reach - and finish, as always with gas joints, by brushing soapy water over every connection and watching for bubbles before first use.
