250 gallon propane tank for a generator

Generac's installation manual recommends a minimum 250 US gallon LP tank for its air-cooled home standby generators and says to ask your propane supplier to size the tank to the generator. Do not connect a home standby generator to a 20 or 30 lb cylinder. Our guide to sizing a propane tank for a standby generator works through the fuel draw by generator size.
