A 120 gallon tank is the smallest stationary size most buyers consider for a home: enough for a single appliance such as a range, fireplace, water heater or pool heater without a delivery truck every few weeks.
Small residential applications, supplemental heating, fireplaces, and pool heaters. A great option for homes with low to moderate propane usage.

Tanks of this size are often sold by their nominal propane capacity rather than in gallons. NFPA 58 treats a container of 1,000 lb water capacity as a nominal 420 lb propane container, and that is the 120 gallon class - so a "420 lb propane tank" and a "120 gallon propane tank" are the same size. Our 420 lb listings are the ASME and DOT versions of the 120 gallon tank.
Capacity is quoted as water capacity. Tanks are filled to about 80%, so a 120 gallon tank holds roughly 96 gallons of propane.
