Valves & fittings included
- Fill valve
- Double-check filler valve - the connection the delivery truck fills through. 250 gallons and up take the 1-3/4 inch ACME bulk-fill connection.
- Service / vapor withdrawal valve
- The vapor outlet your installer connects the first-stage regulator to.
- Pressure relief valve
- Required safety device. Vents to atmosphere if tank pressure rises above the set point, then reseats.
- Float gauge
- Dial gauge reading tank level as a percentage of capacity.
- Liquid withdrawal valve
- Draws liquid propane rather than vapor, for transfer and high-demand liquid service.
- Vapor return valve
- Returns vapor to the delivery vehicle during filling and relieves pressure back to another vessel.
Valves are factory-fitted to the vessel. The regulator, gas line and the propane itself are not included - a licensed installer connects the tank and a licensed supplier makes the first fill.

What a 1,000 gallon above ground propane tank runs
A 1,000 gallon above ground propane tank is the size you reach for when a 500 stops being enough: a large or poorly insulated home on full propane heat, a home with a pool heater and a standby generator on the same supply, or a commercial site that cannot afford to run dry. Filled to the 80% safe level it holds about 800 usable gallons, which is the real reason people size up - fewer delivery visits, and the freedom to fill when the price is low rather than when the gauge is low.
Above ground, and why that is usually the cheaper answer
Above ground is the straightforward installation: a level pad, the tank set on it, the regulator and gas line run to the house. There is no excavation, no anode bag and no dome, which is why it costs less to install than the buried equivalent and why it is easier to inspect and service afterwards. If you would rather not look at it, we sell the same capacity as a 1,000 gallon underground tank.

Shipped by freight to any address in the 48 contiguous states at our flat rate, delivered curbside on a pallet with liftgate service. Professional installation can be added at checkout and is carried out by a licensed installer we arrange in your area. Like every tank here it ships empty - your propane supplier makes the first fill on site once the installer has set and tested it.
